"The world is desperate for braver leaders. It's time for all of us to step up."

- Brené Brown

June 11, 12, 13, 2020

Overview

Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™ is an empirically based courage- building program.

Brené defines a leader as, ”anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes, and who has the courage to develop that potential."

The most significant finding from Brené’s latest research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops, trainings, and coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations move from armoured leadership to daring leadership.

Daring leadership means choosing courage over comfort, what is right over what is fast or easy, and practicing our values over professing them. Brave leaders know that you can't take people professionally where you're not willing to go personally.

To reignite creativity, innovation, and learning, leaders must rehumanize education and work. This means understanding how scarcity is affecting the way we lead and work, learning how to engage with vulnerability and recognizing and combating shame.

We need to have honest conversations about what it takes to bring our best, most authentic selves to work, and how to effectively encourage our colleagues to do the same. These conversations may sound risky and vulnerable, but risk and vulnerability are essential to courageous leadership.

Real change and innovation are within our reach if we're willing to talk about the emotions, thoughts and behaviors that get in the way.

Facilitation

Our Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator is Dr. Carolyn Anderson, Phd, RSW. Carolyn is a thoughtful and sought-after speaker, regularly presenting her work at national and international conferences.

She has an established and illustrious background in clinical and community development aimed at understanding and supporting vulnerability, courage, worthiness, shame and resilience through her work with women-in-transition, the LGBT community and survivors of childhood trauma.

Carolyn believes that leaning into vulnerability, practicing courage, and building resilience skills requires that we address thought, emotion, and behaviour. This integrated approach helps people transform the way they live, love, parent, and lead.
