About

Johnathan Kuipers

Clinical Social Worker,  Therapist

MSW

RCSW

As a compassionate and experienced therapist, my mission is to guide individuals, couples, and families through challenging situations. Together, we nurture sustainable growth with therapeutic techniques encompassing mindfulness, creative expression, body awareness, and traditional talk therapy.  I adapt and interweave my approaches to meet the needs of clients of various ages, abilities, orientations, and personal histories. I work to empower my clients while respecting the unique sensitivities each of us has. As we uncover strengths and stressors in our work together, my goal is to foster a supportive environment for accessing what seems important, processing the heart of the matter, and integrating new understandings.

My services adhere to the ethical guidelines and standards of practice of the Canadian Association of Social Workers and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).  As a Registered Clinical Social Worker (RCSW) with the Alberta and British Columbia Colleges of Social Workers, an RSW with the Ontario College of Social Worker and Social Service Workers, and a member various other professional associations, I exemplify my commitment to lifelong learning by continuously developing my skills in areas that are relevant to my practice and of personal interest.

In addition to therapeutic counselling, I work with individuals and groups on diversity and inclusion topics, offering opportunities for professional development and education through group and individual consulting.

I redefined Connection Point during Covid-19 and embraced a fully nomadic lifestyle, continuing to do so to this day. My mobile office serves as a safe and confidential space for virtual client sessions, using technology to ensure privacy and comfort.

As I travel the Pacific North West and engage with diverse cultures, on diverse lands. I am dedicated to promoting, respecting, and understanding the sacred histories of the communities and landscapes I visit. I take inspiration from the land and often share land-based reflections in my resources.
